The Loiminchay Mandarin Limited Edition Purple Jade Clip Fountain Pen represents one of the rarest and most elusive creations from a brand that built its reputation on exclusivity, precious materials, and uncompromising craftsmanship. Produced as part of the celebrated Mandarin series, this extraordinary edition combines Loiminchay's distinctive oversized writing instrument design with one of the most sought-after appointments ever offered by the company: the Purple Jade clip. Limited to only eight fountain pens worldwide, the Purple Jade variant occupies a unique position within the hierarchy of Loiminchay collectibles and is seldom encountered on the secondary market.

For experienced collectors, the significance of this pen extends well beyond its production numbers. While Loiminchay produced several jade clip variations over the years, the Purple Jade version has developed a particularly strong reputation due to its extreme scarcity and the difficulty collectors face when attempting to assemble complete jade clip sets. As a result, examples rarely change hands publicly, and many remain in long-established collections.

Craftsmanship & Design

The Mandarin series was conceived as a celebration of traditional Chinese artistic influences interpreted through modern luxury penmaking. The pen's substantial proportions immediately distinguish it from conventional writing instruments, creating a commanding presence that reflects the philosophy behind many of Loiminchay's most ambitious creations.

At the center of this edition is the Purple Jade clip, the defining feature that elevates the pen from a rare limited edition to a highly desirable collector piece. Throughout Chinese history, jade has occupied a position unlike any other gemstone. Revered for thousands of years, it has been associated with wisdom, virtue, prosperity, and status. Purple jade is especially significant due to its relative rarity and distinctive coloration, making it one of the most visually striking materials ever incorporated into the Mandarin collection.

Rather than functioning as a decorative accent alone, the jade clip serves as the focal point of the design. Its rich coloration provides a dramatic contrast against the body of the pen while reinforcing the collection's broader connection to Chinese artistic traditions. The use of genuine jade reflects Loiminchay's longstanding commitment to integrating precious materials into its most exclusive editions rather than relying solely on precious metals or surface decoration.

The Mandarin's generous dimensions further contribute to its visual identity. Large without feeling excessive, the pen was designed to provide an expansive canvas for luxury materials and decorative execution. This sense of scale became one of the defining characteristics of the series and remains an important part of its appeal among collectors today.

The Legacy of Loiminchay

During its most active years, Loiminchay established a reputation for creating writing instruments that often blurred the line between functional objects and luxury art pieces. The company's limited editions regularly featured rare materials, intricate craftsmanship, and production quantities that were remarkably small even by luxury pen standards.

Unlike larger manufacturers that produced collector editions in the hundreds or thousands, Loiminchay frequently operated on a far more intimate scale. This approach allowed the company to pursue ambitious projects incorporating precious stones, exotic materials, and highly specialized decorative elements that would have been impractical in larger production runs.

The Mandarin series became one of the clearest expressions of that philosophy. Combining oversized proportions with exceptional materials, it represented the company's willingness to prioritize artistry, exclusivity, and collector appeal above mainstream commercial considerations.

Writing Experience

Despite its collector status, the Mandarin was designed first and foremost as a serious writing instrument. The substantial dimensions create a comfortable and stable writing platform, particularly for those who appreciate larger fountain pens. The size allows the pen to rest naturally in the hand while providing a reassuring sense of balance during extended writing sessions.

The 18k gold nib delivers the expressive writing experience expected from a luxury writing instrument of this caliber, while the overall construction reflects the attention to detail that defined Loiminchay's finest creations. Every component was intended to complement the pen's role as both a functional tool and an object of lasting significance.

For many collectors, the Mandarin's appeal lies in this dual identity. It remains fully capable as a writing instrument while simultaneously serving as a showcase for materials and craftsmanship rarely encountered in contemporary pen production.

Collector Significance

Within the world of modern luxury writing instruments, rarity alone does not guarantee desirability. What makes the Purple Jade Mandarin particularly compelling is the convergence of several factors: an edition size of only eight pieces, a highly sought-after jade clip variation, a celebrated Loiminchay platform, and the increasing difficulty of locating examples in collector-grade condition.

Collectors familiar with the Mandarin series often regard the jade clip editions as among the most important releases produced by the brand. Among those variants, Purple Jade occupies an especially elevated position due to its scarcity and visual distinction. Opportunities to acquire one have become increasingly infrequent as examples disappear into established collections and remain there for years.

As a result, the Loiminchay Mandarin Limited Edition Purple Jade Clip Fountain Pen stands as more than a rare writing instrument. It represents a period in luxury penmaking when ambitious materials, exceptionally small production runs, and collector-focused design converged to create objects that continue to command attention decades after their introduction.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5
