Lapis Lazuli from Latin, Lapis means “Stone” and the Persian word Lazhuward means “Blue” is a rich dark blue with gold flecks. During the Renaissance Lapis made its way to Europe where artists would use the stone to create an Ultramarine pigment for paintings.
