The Super Denton is the latest entry in Wharfedale’s highly acclaimed Heritage series. These compact bookshelf speakers take inspiration from Wharfedale's Denton 3 speakers from the early 1970s, but don’t let the vintage look fool you – underneath the retro exterior the Super Dentons feature modern drivers, carefully designed crossovers, and advanced cabinet design, the end result being an impressively big sound from a small footprint.

Genuine 3-way driver design

The Super Dentons use a three-way driver configuration with dedicated drivers for the treble, midrange, and bass. It's a performance-focused design choice that's unusual to see in speakers so compact — following the same design as the Denton 3s from over 50 years ago.

Each speaker uses a 1" soft dome tweeter coupled with a 2" soft dome midrange for natural, lightning-quick highs and articulate mids. These two drivers are offset from one another to reduce sound-muddying diffraction, a cast-chassis 6-1/2" woofer delivers surprisingly deep, robust bass.

Premium Build Quality

The Super Denton cabinet features critically placed bracing and internal acoustic damping using layers of long-hair fibre, and the midrange and treble units have their own rear enclosures. The cabinet itself uses a combination of woods to scatter panel resonances rather than having a single, audibly apparent resonant frequency. An inner layer of high-density particle board is bonded to an outer layer of MDF by an inter-layer of special glue with resonance-damping properties.

The Super Denton is supplied in matched, mirror-imaged pairs. With one speaker optimised for the left channel and the other for the right, accurate stereo imaging within a deep, broad soundstage is assured when the speakers are positioned appropriately.
