Light: Hoya Compacta Variegata thrives in bright, indirect light. Plenty of filtered light will help maintain strong variegation and encourage flowering. It can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out mostly between waterings. As a semi-succulent Hoya, it stores moisture in its thick leaves and prefers a well-draining potting mix. Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering during the cooler months when growth slows.
