Mannochmore Distillery is a lesser-known Speyside gem that quietly produces one of the region’s most versatile and characterful single malts. Located just outside Elgin and established in 1971, Mannochmore is a relatively modern distillery by Scotch standards — but its whisky has earned a loyal following among independent bottlers and single cask collectors for its bright, textured spirit and capacity for bold flavour development.

Originally intended to support Diageo’s blended Scotch portfolio, Mannochmore’s single malt has increasingly taken the spotlight in limited editions and indie releases. Its spirit is clean, slightly waxy, and delicately fruity, often showing notes of citrus peel, green apple, and a dry cereal backbone in its youth — qualities that make it a superb foundation for more complex cask finishes.

One particularly good pairing for Mannochmore’s spirit is an Oloroso sherry cask maturation. The dry richness and nutty depth of Oloroso wood beautifully amplify the distillery’s natural structure, adding layers of dark fruit, roasted nuts, leather, and subtle spice. The result is a whisky that balances Speyside brightness with sherry cask opulence — a combination that has made several recent releases standout hits in the indie bottler scene.

At DamGoodDrams, we’re big fans of Mannochmore! It may fly under the radar, but we've sold many an indie bottling of it over the past few years. A cask like this, maturing in first fill Oloroso from day one, will make a fantastic bottling one day. One we look forward to trying!

We've only got ONE of these 2022 Mannochmore hogsheads for sale. The cask is sitting at Coleburn distillery. Unfortunately, Coleburn does not allow private accounts so the Delivery Order will need to stay under the DamGood account, unless the cask is moved.
