034Motorsport's Billet Aluminium Rear Main Seal is designed to replace the failure-prone stamped steel factory Rear Main Seal on your 1.8T or 2.0T FSI Volkswagen and Audi. This Billet Rear Main Seal is CNC machined from 6061-T6 Aluminium and features an OEM Viton Elring seal with an integral tension spring to ensure a tight seal to the crankshaft.

The OEM rear main seal utilizes a poorly designed PTFE "sealing lip" which over time leads to an oil leak between your engine and transmission. The failure of a rear main seal can also cause crankcase pressure issues and possibly even misfires.

The 034Motorsport Billet Aluminium Rear Main Seal has been tested and proven to last under high heat and intense abuse and is an excellent upgrade for replacing your leaking rear main seal. It is also an outstanding preventative maintenance modification that can save you from future headaches of oil leaks, stained driveways, and reduced performance that a leaky OEM rear main seal brings with it.

Installation:

Remove and install crankshaft seal retainer as per factory service manual with the following notes:

  • Use oil compatible RTV ONLY (black usually)
  • Torque all bolts to 15NM
  • When installing, push guide sleeve from repair kit onto crankshaft
  • Do not apply oil to the sealing lip of the seal
  • Make sure that the sealing lip of the sealing ring is not folded back or damaged when installing

I feel like the harnesses for the wall don't fit the wood well enough, so you can get different distances from the wall, and one of my shelves is half a centimeter below the others, even though I lined it up the same. But they are sturdy shelves and very pretty. My only real complaint is the screw anchors for the walls. They are SERIOUS. I doubt these will ever fall out of the wall, for real. The only problem is, they eat the wall as you are putting them in. If I ever decide to move these, I will have to do some serious dry wall repair.

Simple, sturdy, and looks great in the room

I bought this farmhouse shelf for our bedroom because I needed extra storage that would not make the space feel cramped. If using it in a bathroom, I would just be mindful of humidity over time since the shelves appear to be engineered wood with a laminate finish. For towels and lightweight storage bins, it should work well. Overall, this is a practical and good looking shelf. It is not high end furniture, but it does not feel flimsy either. For the price, I would buy it again.
