Cuvée Hommage is unlike any other Champagne. It is not just a wine, but a story a tribute across generations, made in memory of those who came before. This rare cuvée brings together nine vintages: 1971, 1975, 1976, 1982, 1984, 1995, 2005, 2010, and 2019. A blend of time, patience, and conviction.

The older vintages were originally bottled decades ago and held in deep cellar silence. They were eventually opened and reblended with younger base wines, particularly 2019  which were vinified in large 600-liter oak barrels (demi-muids). The result is a Champagne that bridges the youthful clarity of recent harvests with the layered, oxidative complexity of mature wine. Just 3,152 bottles were produced.

At first pour, the young vintages take the lead. You’ll notice the tension and fruit of 2019, the lift of 2010 citrus, white florals, a flicker of orchard fruit. But don’t rush it. Let the bottle breathe. Give it time in the glass. Or better yet: pour a few glasses, put a champagne stopper the bottle, and return it to the fridge for an hour. What returns will feel like a different wine entirely.

Now the older vintages begin to speak. The Champagne deepens. Layers of baked apple, walnut, dried flowers, and antique wood unfurl. It becomes calmer, broader, more serious yet still precise. The palate stretches out and the finish lingers long, with a whisper of the past.

This is not a Champagne made to impress at first sip it is one that evolves with air and attention. It requires patience, and it rewards it. Cuvée Hommage is José Michel’s legacy in liquid form: reflective, soulful, and quietly unforgettable.
