Godemont, verschopt, gestoord, verdoemd, loopt zich te pletter in een driedubbele queeste: naar de moordenaar van zijn -vrouw, Femke; naar het verloren gegane manuscript van Het infrarood en het ultraviolet, en naar de oorsprong van zijn eigen schrijverschap. Tijdens een grandiose finale komen alle lijnen samen in de definitieve persoonlijke apocalyps.
In een onnavolgbare stijl schildert Wilfried Hendrickx een breed fresco van haat, nood, passie, bewondering en ondergang. Valse idealen worden onderuitgeschopt, literaire en journalistieke afgoden geslacht en eminences grises gescalpeerd.
