Bloemen en geur Specerijstruik Calycanthus floridus

De Specerijstruik ontleent zijn naam aan zijn geurige eigenschappen. De bloemen, bladeren en schors geven allemaal een kruidige, meloen-achtige geur af als ze worden ingedrukt of gekneusd. De bloemen zijn donkerrood tot bruin, en hebben een unieke, bijna bolvormige vorm met meerdere lagen bloembladen. Deze bloemen bloeien van het late voorjaar tot de vroege zomer en geven een zoete, bijna wijnachtige geur af. Na de bloei verschijnen de vruchtenbottels. Deze lijken op rozenbottels.

Hoogte en blad

Deze Specerijstruik of Meloenboompje Calycanthus floridus, is een opvallende en unieke plant die bekend staat om zijn prachtige, donkere bloemen en aromatische geur. Deze sierlijke struik kan tot 2-4 meter hoog worden met een gelijke spreiding, en heeft een afgeronde, dichte vorm die het hele jaar door aantrekkelijk is. Het is een bladverliezende struik met tegenovergestelde, glanzende, ovale tot bijna ronde bladeren die donkergroen zijn en in de herfst een mooie gele kleur krijgen.

Standplaats in de tuin

De Specerijstruik Calycanthus 'Floridus' geeft de voorkeur aan volle zon tot halfschaduw en gedijt goed in middelmatig vochtige, goed doorlatende grond. Deze sierheester die zijn oorsprong in China heeft kan ook wat droogte verdragen, maar geeft de voorkeur aan een regelmatige watergift. Een opmerkelijke eigenschap van de Specerijstruik is zijn tolerantie voor kleigrond, wat het een goede keuze maakt voor gebieden waar veel planten moeite hebben om te groeien. Zorg wel altijd voor een plekje uit de koude wind!

Specerijstruik 'Calycanthus floridus' combineren met

Omdat de Specerijstruik 'Calycanthus floridus' een langzame groeier is, is hij perfect voor tuiniers die op zoek zijn naar een onderhoudsvriendelijke tuin, maar opvallende struik voor grote borders of solitair.

Goed te combineren met Rododendrons, vlinderstruik 'Buddleja', Wollige Sneeuwbal 'Viburnum' of (Pluim)hortensia struiken (zet ze niet te dicht er op) of vaste planten zoals:

  • Maagdenpalm 'Vinca' of Bosaardbei 'Vesca' bodembedekkers
  • Salie 'Salvia'
  • Lavendel (niet in zure grond)
  • Kattenkruid 'Nepeta'
  • Vrouwenmantel 'Alchemilla' (ideaal in iets vochtigere borders)
  • Elfenbloem 'Epimedium' (in de schaduw)
  • Ooievaarsbek 'geranium' (zoals de wat lagere Rozanne of Biokovo)
  • Grassen zoals Vedergras 'Stipa', inheemse Ruwe Smele 'Deschampsia' of Lampepoetsersgras 'Pennisetum'. Matchen met Leliegras 'Liriope' en Zegge 'Carex' kan ook prima

I read reviews before going into this book and I don't agree with one of the more harsh ones on the main trigger she had. It is stated clearly in the forward and it wasn't as blase as it was made out to be. It definitely is touched on more and hasn't just been brushed off as the series goes I definitely would recommend reading it. It's a good series just be for-warned I like the series as a whole. The characters are awesome I adore the fmc shes cute and adorable but also a badass. Though there are a bunch of holes for her that I feel like just got left out. The guys are interesting and shout out to yall for not making Gage a dragon. I'm tired of the broody ones who don't wanna talk aboit what they are being Dragons. Ki is my favorite You can definitely tell if is written by 2 different people though because the phrasing just doesn't match up and wouldn't be something people that age says. And it flip flops between them. I feel like there's substance without substance. We are 4 books in and we don't really know much back story on literally anyone more than right under surface deep. There are definitely favorite MMCs which is kind of disappointing since some get shoved to the wayside. Specifically both of the best friends. They're basically useless and it's made obvious as the books go on. As well as all the men are ungodly self deprecating. I enjoy the plot line for the most part like I said I enjoy the series its different and refreshing. I do feel like the series is being dragged out though unfortunately. And the latest cliff hanger was just meh. So hopefully the next book is the last one.

The heroine is spunky and has a great heart and wicked sense of humor.
