De oud gouden kleur zegt alles. Deze weelderige, likeurachtige 40 Years Old Tawny heeft een pittig randje dat perfect samengaat met de zuurgraad, de rozijnenvruchten en smaken van lange houtrijping. Het is niet zozeer jong maar wel nog heel levendig en evenwichtig. Zeer intens en complex, in de neus een combinatie van tabakstonen en gedroogd fruit. Zeer geconcentreerd in de mond met uitstekende structuur. Tonen van fruitcake, vijgen en geroosterd droog fruit met een zeer lange afdronk.

Het is een assemblage van verschillende druivensoorten van oude wijnstokken: onder andere tinta amarela, touriga franca en touriga nacional. Verschillende wijnen worden geassembleerd en zijn gemiddeld 40 jaar oud. De wijn rijpt in zeer oude eikenhouten vaten van 600 liter en andere eikenhouten vaten.
