De OTARU-serie combineert in esthetiek: tradities van de Song-dynastie (zie: de vorm en de kleine bronzen pootjes) met modern minimalisme; in techniek: aardewerkvakmanschap en fabrieksproductie van speciaal geïmporteerde hittebestendige klei; in afwerking: een mineraal glazuur met natuurlijk erts, vakkundig in de oven gebakken (1360 graden), om een natuurlijke look en feel van brons te bereiken dat vervaagt tot donkere klei.Meer dan 1 jaar onderzoek en verschillende specialisten waren nodig om dit resultaat te krijgen, vooral de bronszwarte afwerking was moeilijk te bereiken.
