Sleeping Gods: Distant Skies is een op zichzelf staand vervolg dat zich afspeelt in de wereld van Sleeping Gods. Hoewel het voortbouwt op verhaalelementen uit het eerste spel hoef je Sleeping Gods niet gespeeld te hebben om van dit vervolg te genieten. Het spel bevat nieuwe personages en verhalen; concepten uit het originele spel worden uitgelegd wanneer je deze tegenkomt.
