De Starboard Windsurf Board Ignite is een speels en toch serieuze freestyle plank die snel planeert, hard popt en controle houdt wanneer het erop aankomt. De compacte shape en brede tail geven je onmiddellijk druk onder de achtervoet, zodat je uit stilstand makkelijk versnelt en met weinig wind hoogte kunt lopen. Het dek biedt veel grip en voelt stabiel aan bij switch-stance, duck-variaties en snelle richtingswissels; tegelijk blijft de neus licht zodat sliding tricks vanzelf loskomen. De balans tussen lengte en volume helpt bij waterstarten in chop en geeft vertrouwen om vol door te trekken in een carve of spock zonder dat het board bokkig wordt. De stance is direct en uitnodigend: je staat stevig in de banden, het board reageert meteen op een pomp of pop en blijft rustiger dan je verwacht wanneer de vlagen binnenrollen.

Op Nederlandse meren en langs de kust combineert de Ignite twee werelden: voldoende levendigheid voor moderne freestyle, genoeg controle om lange rakken te varen en de gijp te finetunen. De rails happen niet onnodig, waardoor je foutjes makkelijker opvangt en energie spaart voor de volgende move. Het dek is duurzaam afgewerkt en kan tegen veel waterstarts, strandstarts en oefenrondes, terwijl de inserts verschillende voetbandposities toelaten om de set aan jouw stijl aan te passen. Na de sessie spoel je zout en zand er zo af en blijft de stijfheid op niveau. You just lay your head down on it and it forms around your neck and your head and when you get up, it goes right back to its normal form. It doesn’t get flat and I love it. I completely recommend this to anyone who is a person who has a hard time finding a really good pillow.

This pillow — after dialing in the right amount of shredded foam — has greatly helped my sore neck. Initially, I had to remove some foam. Then I gradually added foam until it reached optimum comfort and support. It is also CPAP-friendly — especially when I position my head near the pillow's edge. (I am a left-side sleeper.) I like the travel size because I use a bulky hugging pillow to ease stress on my shoulder and elbow. That makes my side of the bed feel cramped if using a larger head pillow. A smaller pillow is easy to flip end-to-end in the middle of the night.
