De deken is gemaakt van een fijnmazige stof waardoor de deken zorgt voor een goede luchtcirculatie om het paard. Daarnaast weert de stof uv-straling en houdt hij vliegen en insecten op afstand. Door de zadeluitsparingen zit deze deken de ruiter niet in de weg.

De afneembare hals beschermt de nek, borst en schouders. Aan de hals zit een elastische frontriem waardoor de hals goed op zijn plek blijft liggen. De hals kan gemakkelijk bevestigd worden aan de daarvoor bestemde klittenbandsluitingen. De staartflap biedt het paard extra bescherming tegen insecten.
