The camera is available in three lens mount options: L-Mount, EF, and PL, offering compatibility with a broad selection of modern and vintage lenses. The active L-Mount supports electronic lens control for iris and focus, while the customizable body includes multiple 1/4" and 3/8" thread mounts and side accessory plates for flexible rigging. This allows users to build the ideal setup for any production, from handheld configurations to crane, gimbal, or drone-mounted systems.

Recording capabilities include dual CFexpress media slots and simultaneous capture of 12-bit Blackmagic RAW and lightweight H.264 proxy files. The PYXIS 6K supports resolutions up to 6048 x 4032 and frame rates up to 120 fps in 1080p, with project frame rates ranging from 23.98 to 60 fps. A 4-inch HDR touchscreen with 1500 nits brightness provides intuitive control, while metadata support includes lens data, motion sensor readings, and embedded 3D LUTs.

Connectivity includes 12G-SDI output, USB-C with power and video, mini XLR with phantom power, 3.5mm stereo input and headphone output, and Ethernet for media sharing via Blackmagic Cloud.
