In de warme, grindachtige wijngaarden van dolomietkalksteen rond Margreid, produceren de variëteiten Cabernet Franc en Cabernet Sauvignon goed gestructureerde wijnen. Deze druivensoort maakt al jaren deel uit van het wijngoedassortiment van de Italiaanse familie Lagerder.

De filosofie van Alois Lageder

De wijntraditie van de lagers gaat bijna 200 jaar terug. De overgrootvader van Alois Lageder richtte in 1855 de wijnmakerij Alois Lageder op aan de rand van de oude stad van Bolzano. In de loop van de decennia kwamen er wijnmakerijen met wijngaarden op de beste locaties in Zuid-Tirol bij. Op de in 1934 verworven "Löwengang Ansitz" werd in 1996 een nieuw bedrijf voltooid. Sindsdien is hier ook het hoofdkantoor van de Lageders gevestigd. De nieuwe gebouwen zijn esthetisch mooi op hoog niveau en hebben een ingenieuze functionaliteit terwijl ze tegelijkertijd alternatieve energie gebruiken. Het zorgvuldig omgaan met natuurlijke hulpbronnen is net zo goed een uitdrukking van de levensfilosofie van Alois Lageder als de natuurlijke, milieuvriendelijke wijnbouw. De hoogste scores wereldwijd bevestigen op indrukwekkende wijze de prestaties van deze creatieve wijnmaker. De druiven zijn afkomstig van geselecteerde locaties in Margreid en Kurtatsch. De wijngaarden liggen tussen 240 en 350 meter boven zeeniveau op grindachtige, sterk kalkrijke grond. De druiven worden bij optimale rijpheid met de hand geoogst en daarna zeer streng geselecteerd. Na de inweking van de druiven volgt de alcoholische gisting in roestvrijstalen tanks voor de duur van twaalf dagen. Tot slot rijpt de wijn nog 17 tot 18 maanden in grote eikenhouten vaten. Zodat hij zich perfect kan ontwikkelen.

De geur en smaak van Alois Lageder Cabernet Riserva

De Cabernet Riserva kleur diep kersenrood in het glas met lichtpaarse reflecties. In de geur noten van cassis en zwarte kersen, maar ook iets van leer, tabak en zwarte peper. Diep kersenrood met lichtpaarse reflecties. In de mond is de wijn erg kruidig, met aroma's van donkere bessen. Een medium-body wijn met een robuuste structuur en een goede aromatische persistentie in de afdronk.
