Hoe wordt Les Brumes de Coperies gemaakt?

Les Brumes de Coperies wordt gemaakt van gerst die volledig in Frankrijk wordt verbouwd, gemout, gebrouwen en gedistilleerd. De whisky ondergaat een dubbele distillatie in koperen Charentais pot stills.

Na distillatie rijpt de whisky in Franse eiken vaten, een balans tussen nieuwe en oude vaten. Voor het bottelen krijgen de eaux-de-vie een finishing van enkele maanden in peated whisky casks. Dit geeft de whisky delicate rokerige nuances. De whisky wordt gebotteld op 43% ABV.

Het verhaal van Merlet & Fils

Les Brumes de Coperies is een toevoeging aan de whiskycollectie van Merlet, die in 2021 begon met de Coperies single malt (wat "oogst" betekent in het lokale Charentais dialect). In 2023 volgde de release van Les Ocres, een single malt gemaakt van twee batches Coperies whisky die enkele maanden apart rijpten: één in Pineau des Charentes AOC rode vaten en de andere in Maury AOC wijnvaten.

Les Brumes biedt de kenmerkende finesse van de distillatie van Merlet, aangevuld met een subtiele noot van turfachtige rook.

A pain to put on the wall
4 stars only because to actually screw it into the wall you need either an angled screw driver, which we had to go buy, or a really really short screwdriver as the one that came with it is just a tad to long. Also the mollies that come with it our cheap and would not hold up on regular dry wall, which we found out, thank goodness, before we finished hanging it. As we were hanging it the top pulled right out of the wall. We had heavy duty ones at home already and used those. The shelf was a breeze to actually put together and once we got past the trouble of hanging it, is wonderful and looks great. So, 1. buy a better screwdriver, and 2. get heavy duty mollies.
