De meest opvallende kleuren en prints uit zijden textielresten worden geselecteerd. Deze worden op elkaar afgestemd en met kleurrijke katoenen draad genaaid tot smalle, dubbellaagse "buizen". Deze worden gevuld met vederlichte kralen van Sheesham hout die met de hand op hun plek genaaid worden.

Een gemeenschap van vrouwen in West-Bengalen borduurt de stukken zijde voor de sluiting met een rijgsteek (Kantha).

Het hergebruiken van zijden sari’s is een oude traditie in India. De sari, de nationale klederdracht van Hindoestaanse vrouwen is zo’n 6 meter lang. Zijden sari’s zijn een kostbaar bezit. Ze blijven lang in de familie en gaan van moeder op dochter. Maar op een goed moment gaan ze toch de deur uit. Dan wordt de sari verkocht aan de plaatselijke potten-en-pannen-vrouw, of geruild voor kookgerei.
