Nymphaea alba, ook wel Europese witte waterlelie of witte lotus genoemd, is een prachtige plant afkomstig uit Europa. Het wordt vaak verward met de Nymphaea lotus, de zogenaamde Egyptische witte waterlelie. Deze plant wordt over het algemeen ook aangeduid met de naam Witte Lotus. De witte lotus wordt in Europa voornamelijk gebruikt als sierplant, denk maar aan de dansende waterlelies in de Efteling.

WIST JE DAT?

De zaden rijk zijn aan zetmeel, eiwit en olie. De zaden kunnen rauw of gekookt worden gegeten, maar kunnen ook gedroogd worden en gemalen tot meel. Het meel kan worden gebruikt voor het maken van brood of soep. Ook kun je deze bloemblaadjes consumeren als thee, gerookt of gedrenkt in wijn. EFFECTEN:

Nymphaea alba kent een aantal bijzondere gebruikseffecten. Al vele honderden jaren wordt deze plant geconsumeerd voor onder andere spirituele doeleinden. Vandaag de dag is het nog steeds een populair middel omdat het een redelijk speciale werking heeft. Het zijn voornamelijk de alkaloïden nupharine en nymphaeine die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de gewenste effecten van witte lotus.

  • Witte Lotus heeft zowel verdovend als een euforisch effect.
  • Men zegt dat de bloem, net als blauwe lotus ook de seksualiteit en opwinding verhoogt.


GEBRUIK:

  • Voor het maken van thee laat je ongeveer 5 gram witte lotus tien tot vijftien minuten trekken in heet water.
  • Je kunt de plant ook enkele uren laten weken in wijn. Gebruik hiervoor ongeveer 5 gram per fles. Gebruik niet te veel: witte Lotus maakt de wijn bitter en moeilijk drinkbaar.

Amazon Basics MERV 11 Filters: Solid Performance Without the Premium Price I’ve been using these Amazon Basics 20x20x1 MERV 11 filters in my home HVAC system, and overall they’ve been a very dependable option for routine filter changes. I like buying them in a 6-pack because it takes the hassle out of remembering to reorder every couple of months, and the per-filter cost is noticeably lower than the big-name brands at the hardware store.
