Antique Pouring Vessel c.19th CenturyWe have sourced a small collection of incredibly rare cast copper ewers sourced in rural Asia, dating to the early 19th century. Originally used for pouring wine or spirits, each vessel has a narrow spout, lidded top and single side handle. Unlike later decorative versions made from thin sheet metal, these are cast in solid copper alloy, giving them a dense weight and slow developed surface patina. We have sourced a small collection of incredibly rare cast-copper ewers sourced in rural Asia, dating to the early 19th century. Originally used for pouring wine or spirits, each vessel has a narrow spout, lidded top and single side handle. Unlike later decorative versions made from thin sheet metal, these are cast in solid copper alloy, giving them a dense weight and slow developed surface patina.

The exterior shows a deep, naturally oxidised finish in layered tones of charcoal, umber and muted copper, with areas of mineral bloom from long-term storage. The surfaces have not been polished or refinished, retaining the uneven colour shifts and handling marks.

They work beautifully as sculptural objects on shelving or consoles, either singly or grouped. Decorative use only.
