Origin/Distribution: Occurs from New Brunswick west to Ontario and south from Maine to New Jersey (where it is rare), as far west as Wyoming and as far south as Missouri. Native to Maine.

Habitat: Adaptable to various conditions - cliffs, balds, ledges, grasslands, meadows, fields, lake shore, river edge, forest edge, roadside, disturbed area, and even thin forest. There are numerous regional variations of Hawkweeds.
