The recipe is simple. Take one part: Ernie Ball Music Man expert electric bass builders. Add one part: Top tier bass amplifier and effects creators Dark Glass Electronics. Mix together. The result? The DarkRay.
In most ways, it could almost be viewed as a nearly identical twin to the StingRay Special in looks and feel. A legendary design played by bassists far and wide, why stray too far from what plays just right? The roasted maple neck with gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend is one of the smoothest players in the game. All black hardware, neodymium humbucking pickup, high fret accessible, contoured and comfortable, low-end reliable. The design checks all a bassist's boxes.
The big difference and main attraction with the DarkRay is the preamp. You won't hear any noise from this active wiring configuration, complete with volume, gain, bass, treble, and blend controls. Two different Darkglass drive circuits live within to satisfy your tonal tastes. The Alpha circuit provides tight distortion, and the Omega gives you all the built in fuzz you could ever ask for. A LED ring indicates which mode you are in dependent on the 3-way selector switch.
