The key feature of BattleTech is that the combat units in all these battles are roughly 12-metre-tall humanoid armoured combat units called BattleMechs, powered by fusion reactors and armed with a variety of weapons. These towering machine of destruction are led into battle by experienced MechWarriors that could either be soldier-of-fortune or part of one of the noble Great Houses fighting for supremacy.

BattleTech Alpha Strike 2022 Box set is the latest product of the BattleTech franchise. This set is designed specifically for the Alpha Strike format of the game, a fast-playing form of the classic BattleTech "Total Warfare" based on BattleTech: Quick-Strike and BattleTech: Strategic Operations games systems. With respect to the classic version of the game, this newer format provides a streamlined game play for larger battles while keeping the same main rules and game mechanics. Moreover, Alpha Strike has been specifically developed for miniature gaming making it closer to modern tabletop wargaming than the classic version Total Warfare.

The newer 2022 Box packs an amazing value for both player looking to get into the game and for the more experienced ones, looking to expand their armies with amazing new models. First, the new box not only comes with a 32-page rulebook but it also provides a lot of background about the BattleTech Universe. Particularly interesting are the 16-Page Universe Primer and the 24-page fiction novella "Chaos Theory".

Together with the game rules, the 2022 starter box provides 13 high-quality, fully assembled and unpainted miniatures together with their unit and pilot cards. Two of these Mechs have been fully redesigned (Wraith and Pouncer) while other seven are provided as new variants in new poses.
