Railroad Ink is arguably one of the most successful implementations of the new breed of roll & writes with its route planning gameplay and great components. The challenge in Railroad Ink is to construct a highway and railroad system that links up with as few dice as possible. Included in each set are four basic dice (which have been upgraded from the original red and blue sets to include even more options), and some special expansion dice which are different in each set and can be used with other sets. On a turn you will roll the basic dice and expansion dice if you have chosen too. Then you must utilise the all the basic dice and possibly the expansion dice too depending on the rules of the expansion. The roads and rails The board now features special buildings which can be activated for bonuses, like points, repeating and dice and so on. The 'Challenge' versions also add three objectives to compete for against other players helping to up the interaction between players. Components wise the game comes in a magnetic box with dry wipe boards and pens for up to six players. If you own other versions you can even take the game up to higher player counts! The expansion dice here challenge you to protect cacti from the desert climate by tactical placement of oasis'.
