Inspiration: 

Every night the horizon lights up with the glow of chokka boats, a sight that has become part of the identity of our bay. These boats are not just fishing vessels, they represent resilience, sacrifice, and the heartbeat of our community. They provide much needed income for families, yet the work is harsh, long nights at sea, bitter winter cold, and the challenge of navigating storms and towering swells. For me, these boats are more than just a livelihood, they are indicators of nature’s mood. When bad weather approaches, they appear like silent sentinels seeking shelter in St Francis Bay.  Then as soon as the seas calm, they vanish back into the darkness, almost like Star Wars ships returning to battle. This artwork is my tribute to their strength, their rhythm and the vital role they play in shaping life on our coastline. 

Artist Bio:  

I like to create expressive oil paintings and charcoal drawings inspired by the ocean, landscapes and the interplay of light and movement in nature. My artwork often explores the raw energy of waves and the serenity of coastal and mountain scenes, balancing realism with a loose, dynamic approach. Based in St. Francis Bay, I frequently paint plein air, capturing the immediacy and atmosphere of the natural world. My compositions reflect a deep connection to the sea, informed by a lifelong passion for surfing and the outdoors. With a background in digital design and programming, I transitioned to painting as a means of creative expression beyond technology. Each piece I create is a hope of offering viewers an emotional connection to nature’s beauty and power.
