It's about 90% heartwood, and the heartwood has the attractive patterns of slightly spalted Walnut. The grain pattern is long and straight. This is a nice, solid block of Texas grown Black Walnut. There is one minor end check that you might want to CA glue if turning; it appears to die out after a 1/2" or so. |
