Removing the upper clamping bolt and the two pivot pins from the steering knuckle has always presented technicians with problems, especially when components are heavily corroded in place. Not only is the usual technique using hammer, welding torch, angle grinder and drift time-consuming and arduous, but there is also the risk of damaging steering knuckles, pivot pins and wishbone struts. The extractor KL-0250-40 with its proper pressure unit enables the quick and professional extraction of the hex clamping bolt and pivot pins. The tool is suitable for both right-hand and left-hand wheel suspensions. Application example: Mount tool with pressure unit to steering knuckle (with pressure drift I inserted). Drive hex nut by means of an impact wrench and push back the hex clamping bolt. The loosening process takes place with a loid noise. Extract the hex clamping bolt with the pressure unit in 3 working stages. For this, insert the pressure drifts II + III one after another. Pull out the hex clamping bolt completely. In case it is still not possible to extract the entire hex clamping bolt, use the supplement pressure drift set KL-0250-402 to press it out completely. Remove the hex nut. Completely remove the pressure drift so that the clamping bore is clear. Using the pressure spindle, push out both pivot pins from the clamping bore. The tool can be used for the left and the right wheel suspension. The method with hammer, welding torch, angle grinder and mandrel is not only very time-consuming and exhausting but there is also a risk of damaging the steering knuckles, pivot pins and wishbone braces.
