Has Marriage for Love Failed? explores the modern landscape of love and marriage, challenging the notion that love and marriage are synonymous. This compelling book by Pascal Bruckner delves into the historical evolution of marriage, asserting that the ideal of marrying for love has transformed societal norms. As the traditional view has shifted, marriage has become increasingly optional, leading to a rise in single-parent families and cohabitation without marriage. Bruckner provocatively questions whether love, now freely chosen, has become detrimental to the institution it was meant to sanctify. This thought-provoking read addresses the decline in wedding ceremonies and the soaring divorce rates over the past few decades. With 96 pages of insightful analysis, this book is perfect for anyone curious about contemporary relationships. It challenges readers to reflect on the serious implications of love's liberation from marriage and how the aspiration for romantic love shapes our lives today. Ideal for sociologists, relationship experts, and anyone interested in the complexities of modern love. Set your mind alight with discussions on infidelity, betrayal, and personal freedom in love and marriage. Discover if love's triumph over marriage is a cause for celebration or concern. Description:
Today we like to think that marriage is a free choice based on love: that we freely choose whom to marry and that we do so, not so much for survival or social advantage, but for love. The invention of marriage for love inverted the old relationship between love and marriage. In the past, marriage was sacred, and love, if it existed at all, was a consequence of marriage; today, love is sacred and marriage is secondary. But now marriage appears to be becoming increasingly superfluous. For the past forty years or so, the number of weddings has been declining, the number of divorces exploding and the number of unmarried individuals and couples growing, while single-parent families are becoming more numerous. Love has triumphed over marriage but now it is destroying it from inside. So has the ideal of marriage for love failed, and has love finally been liberated from the shackles of marriage? In this brilliant and provocative book Pascal Bruckner argues that the old tension between love and marriage has not been resolved in favour of love, it has simply been displaced onto other levels. Even if it seems more straightforward, the contemporary landscape of love is far from euphoric: as in the past, infidelity, loss and betrayal are central to the plots of modern love, and the disenchantment is all the greater because marriages are voluntary and not imposed. But the collapse of the ideal of marriage for love is not necessarily a cause for remorse, because it demonstrates that love retains its subversive power. Love is not a glue to be put in the service of the institution of marriage: it is an explosive that blows up in our faces, d

NICE AND STRETCHY
Color: Navy Blue, Size: 42
These pants are made of a material that seems durable and is definitely comfortable, and they have a stretch band at the waist that can comfortably accommodate many different belly girths-- from slim to portly. The waist also has a drawstring. I'd call these light weight pants, as the material is thin. They aren't baggy at all and fit the natural contours of an average male physique.
The pants have two fairly deep front pockets and one small rear pocket that can easily fit a regular-sized wallet. But, I would not recommend carrying a wallet in the rear pocket, as, due to the depth of the pocket being only as deep as the wallet is long, it might slip out as you move around, sitting and rising.
If nature calls, and you need to pee, you will have to pull your pants down and excite anyone in the immediate vicinity, as there is no opening, either buttoned or zippered, in the front of the pants. So, in that respect they are kind of like sweatpants. I'd call these pants good for inside the house or wearing on the street.
I like them despite the lack of a fly, so I give 5 stars. I see lots of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese guys around who like to wear this type of pant, but these fit nicely for generally larger and more robust Caucasians type physiques as well. You don't have to worry about a belt or a broken fly zipper with these.
Of course they are made in China, but due to their vast experience selling clothing to Americans, the manufacturers are well acquainted with big masculine American bodies and their needs.
