Our obsession with Hungarian cakes is growing at the speed of light. Here is one of our fave new additions to the torte family! The golden tinted Dobos torte (named after pastry chef Jósef Dobos) has seven layers of thin vanilla-bean-butter sponge cake with a hint of lemon zest. Our rich chocolate buttercream is made of delicious dark and light Valrhona chocolate. The texture is best described as lightly spongey and chewy with a smooth and strong chocolate taste. On top sits hardened caramel pieces that form a gorgeous spiral around the torte. The combination of hardened sweet caramel with rich dark chocolate perfectly compliments each other. We’ve placed three sweet blueberries bang in the middle of the cake and fabulous gold leaf around the rim for that extra jazz. 

This cake debuted in 1885 at the National General Exhibition by chef Jósef Dobos in Budapest and caused delightful uproar throughout Europe. Chef Dobos served Austrian Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph this specimen and they were absolutely blown away. It remains a staple of Hungarian cuisine and rightfully so! This cake is just divine and very easy on the eyes!
