The slotted peghead sports a Wild Grain East Indian overlay as well, to bring the whole guitar together aesthetically, pairing perfectly with the 12-fret construction for a stronger break angle behind the nut, and a more centralized bridge location on the top. The result is a guitar with a strong volume to size ratio that gets loud quickly but performs pleasantly at a light touch. The guitar's trim level is based on a 28-style instrument and this Custom Shop Martin includes a herringbone back strap, Style 28 Boltaron rosette, and Antique White binding.

First is the Authentic Top Thickness specification: the solid Adirondack top is taken to a slightly thinner tolerance than a standard production guitar, based on detailed measurements of vintage Martins. This spec is used on Martin's Authentic Series guitars, and we love to add it to our custom builds to help capture that vintage sound, right out of the box. The thinner top is less restricted, and thus able to vibrate more than a standard thickness top. We often couple Authentic Top Thickness with Golden Era Bracing, with its slightly more aggressive hand-scallop, for a 1-2 punch right in the tone-zone.

This Martin Custom Shop 000 28-Style Auditorium Acoustic Guitar also features flat-sawn, book matched "Wild Grain" East Indian rosewood, which offers the same beautiful tonal characteristics as traditional rosewood, but also offers an aesthetically unique "Rorschach-esque" visual appeal. Accented by abalone inlays, and with a 24.9" scale length and a black ebony fingerboard measuring 1 3/4" at the nut, this guitar’s modified low oval neck features a high-performance taper for a comfortable hand-feel while being played.
