Sonoma-Loeb s winemaker, Phillip Titus, who holds a degree from UC Davis in agronomy, viticulture, and enology, has been crafting wines at the winery since 1990, alongside Frenchman Daniel Docher and a skilled team. Together, they create Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs that showcase the unique qualities of their prized vineyard sources, Dutton Ranch and Sangiacomo Vineyard, which feature the highly sought-after Goldridge soil known for its excellent drainage and low fertility, resulting in wines with intense fruit character. The Dignitary Pinot Noir is crafted from vines that are significantly influenced by the Petaluma Gap, a wind gap named after a coastal mountain opening extending eastward from the Pacific Ocean. The combination of this unique geographical feature and the cool maritime breezes maintains low daytime temperatures, creating an ideal environment for cultivating Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is aged unfiltered for 10 months exclusively in French oak barrels, resulting in an elegant expression of red and black fruit flavors, complemented by delicate hints of spice.
