Introducing the Mammillaria pulmosa, known as feather cactus, which is a fascinating cactus species that belongs to the Mammillaria genus. Native to the desert regions of Mexico, specifically in the states of San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, and Hidalgo, it has gained popularity due to its unique appearance and interesting characteristics.

Mammillaria pulmosa is a clustering cactus that is covered in dense, soft white spines that resemble feathers, giving it a delicate and fluffy appearance. These spines serve as a protective mechanism against predators and help to reduce water loss through evaporation.

When mature, it typically can grow up to 6 inches tall and 16 inches wide. The compact size of its mound of globose stems makes it a popular choice for indoor cultivation, as it can thrive in small pots or containers.

The Feather Cactus is known for its slow growth rate, so it may take several years to reach its full size.

The flowers of Mammillaria pulmosa are typically small and dainty, adding a touch of charm to the already captivating appearance of the cactus.

It produces beautiful creamy white, greenish-yellow, or dull pink with sweet fragrance during the late summer.

To improve flowering in Millillaria cacti, allow them to cool in winter and suspend watering. They have raised tubercles that expand when watered, allowing for increased water storage. The halo effect of flowers emerges from the axils of these tubercles, indicating their unique growth. Avoid prolonged dampness and sitting water, and never let them sit in water. Fertilize once a year in the spring during the growing season for optimal results.

When it comes to Mammillaria pulmosa care, indoors it prefers the southern-facing window, and outdoors in full sun to partial sun-light with well-draining soilGo to soil-cactus-mix-blend-1-gal-4-qt-cacti-succulent-dirt-compost-growing-media?variant=43626295951603.  If kept in a sunny location, Feather cactus will need to be watered once a week. You may need to water it once every two weeks if it is in a semi-shaded area.

The Feather Cactus can grow outdoors in USDA zones 9 to 11 and is also frost hardy to 20° F. As it prefers warmer indoor temperatures between 65-75 °F, it should not be exposed to freezing temperatures for too long. During the winter months, it's best to reduce watering as the cactus goes into a period of dormancy.

When it comes to propagation, Mammillaria pulmosa can be propagated through offsets or seeds. Offsets, also known as "pups," are small plantlets that grow around the base of the parent plant. These can be carefully separated and replanted to create new individual plants. Alternatively, you can collect ripe seeds from the flowers and sow them in well-draining soil to start new plants.

Overall, the Mammillaria pulmosa, or Feather Cactus, is a delightful addition to any cactus collection. You can never go wrong with the Mammillaria Plumosa Feather Cactus. Caring for this succulent plant is not difficult at all, and they will repay you by being one-of-a-kind cacti. You should definitely try this fresh breathy plant once either to impress your guests or simply to feel good.

Broke Within Moments
My two medium sized dogs played tug of war ONE time and it ripped in half. Not durable at all. Did not hold up well.

My dogs love fetching this toy, then fighting over who’s going to bring it back to me
Both of my miniature dachshunds took to this tug of war toy immediately after opening it. I liked the fact it didn’t smell terrible like most of the scented dog toys I’ve purchased in the past. Instead this one actually smells good, it’s sweet and fruity smelling. It’s extremely durable and very heavy duty. The only problem is that it’s pretty thick and heavy, especially for my small dogs. They still like playing fetch with it, then fighting over which one gets to bring it back to me. It really would have been the perfect fetching toy for them, if only it had been a little bit smaller and lighter. If you have larger sized dogs who enjoy playing fetch and tug a war, I’d recommend giving it a try.

Good Quality Toy, but Not a Hit with My Dogs
I am a bit unsure about this toy. Unfortunately, my dogs do not seem to enjoy it very much. I thought the blueberry apple scent would make it more appealing, but they tend to lose interest almost as quickly as they start playing with it. I was hoping this would be something we could use for games like tug of war, but it just has not held their attention. That said, I may just have picky dogs, so this could be a different experience for others. The reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the quality is actually quite nice. It feels well made and has a good overall design. However, I would be a little cautious giving it to aggressive chewers, as it seems a bit on the softer side. For dogs that are more gentle with their toys, it would likely be a better fit. The size is also great, and it has a lot of potential. It just has not gotten much use in our house, likely due to my dogs not being fans of the flavor. Overall, if you have picky pups like mine, this may not be the best choice. But for less selective or gentler dogs, it could still be a solid option

Stretchy, but Smaller & Softer Than Expected; Berry Fragrance Dominates; May be Best 4 Puppies
I was directed to read guidelines that were on the internet, prior to use. I was not expecting that and that was a big turn-off. Basically, it's all about liability, this product has the possibility of being torn apart and I am basically warned that if a piece is chewed off, that's bigger than a grain of rice, to toss, this. I was repeatedly reminded, again and again, and again that pet safety was my responsibility. Yeah, I know that. All these suggestions and warnings should have been made clearer in the listing. Is this built to flex? Yes. Does it bend? Yes. Does it stretch? Yes. Is this rugged? That's open to debate, based on the users, for a puppy, to some degree, but their teeth are very sharp. Is this soft on teeth? I don't disagree. Does this have a durable design? Depends on the user. Floats in water? I do not doubt it. Does this have an enticing scent? For a human, yes, for a pet? Depends if your pet loves berries. This is no pigs ear/bone, so, chewing is not a natural draw that I saw, which I think may be better, because this is soft and easier to tear to pieces than expected. To motivate the first time, I found it best to initiate the tug of war, but this is smaller than I envisioned too, causing me to have to bend considerably to participate. A tennis ball in a tube sock is longer. A two-dog tug of war works best with this. Nevertheless, it's a better toy than teaching pooch to have a battle using clothing, avoiding future attractions to my socks. There is some flexibility to this. Durability is an issue. I think this would have been more interesting if it had been made out of rawhide. It does have a comfortable grip, for a human, but the toy pays a price for that with what I would consider fragility. The berry fragrance dominates, it's nice for a human, but sorry, it ain't no bacon aroma. It's like a thick heavy rubber hose. Value? In hindsight, I just do not see the value I was expecting. I mean really, a grain of rice warning not to use. Durability at issue in my eyes. Country of origin? Vietnam. Is this perfect? Not in my opinion. Rating? A strong three (3) stars at best in my eyes. This is not for a tough chewer. I have to constantly monitor its condition. It does succeed as a tug toy, but it has more limitations that I was expecting. I hope my thoughts added a bit of information.
