Then there's a problem. The quills come out, it assumes its defensive stance, and not even a grizzly bear wants anything to do with our prickly friend.

This might be why the porcupine is one of the longest-living rodents in America. Very territorial, porcupines know to respect others' boundaries and property. It keeps everything copacetic.
