Worked entirely by hand, this quilt is stitched through two layers using rows of running stitch drawn across the full surface - the defining mark of the kantha tradition. The front is an upcycled underprint in magenta check - a warm cream and sandy peach ground overlaid with bold washes of vivid fuchsia and magenta, a loose grid of the same magenta running across the surface in a painterly check. The result of 8 to 12 rounds of hand woodblock printing across a month of production, the layers shift and build in ways that cannot be planned or repeated; this piece is entirely unrepeatable. Edition of one. The edges are finished with a fine hand blanket stitch - small, precise, and quietly present.

The reverse is a wide-width jasper linen-cotton blend - deep, moody teal, rich as the semi-precious stone - with the kantha running stitch visible on both sides, tracing the same quiet rhythm across the cloth.
