A beautiful pale yellow bud vase created by Siegfried Gramann in the tradition of the Bauhaus. The bulbous hand thrown form tapers at the top to form a long neck and simple opening. It is stamped with the typical 'T' over 'R' mark on the base.

TÖPERHOF GRAMANN (aka Gramann Römhild) can trace its roots back to 1720 when a furnace builder from Marbach in southwest Germany decided to open a pottery business in the small town of Römhild in the east-central German state of Thuringia.  The workshop has been in the family for generations since, as documented by journeyman's letters, passports, and other historical papers in the family's possession.  It was with the takeover of operations at the beginning of last century by descendant Karl Gramann, who had trained as a sculptor, that the artistic component of the studio's ceramic production took on a dominant role.  The studio’s output became less about the production of pedestrian goods and more about the individual beauty of the designs.  This shift in focus coincided with the company's growing commercial success.

At the end of WWII, Römhild found itself within the borders of the GDR and the Gramann family business along with it.  In 1948 Karl's son Siegfried Gramann completed his apprenticeship and assumed management of the company.  The son continued the firm's transformation and expansion, turning it into a modern manufacturing facility.  Siegfried Gramann's work had an unmistakable character, and his attractive designs developed into "export hits" for the GDR.  Thanks to these successes, the firm became the leading company of East Germany's "Artisan Ceramics" product group, and Römhild achieved a level of fame throughout the country from its products.  The use of the latest production techniques, the great innovation among its employees, and the artistry and leadership of Siegfried Gramann assured the company's prosperity.  TÖPERHOF GRAMANN earned the distinction of being Europe's largest hand-turned pottery company, with 60 freehand turners and a like number of ceramic painters working there at any given time.  Nevertheless, due to the free-shaping at the wheel and the individual character of the decoration, its products maintained a level of artistry that belied serial production.

Following a transfer to public ownership in 1972, the company operated under the name VEB Töpferhof Römhild.  Siegfried Gramann remained on as director and manager and continued to develop the company.  By the beginning of the 1980s, after several expansions, it had more than 300 employees.  The company's studio was always the heart from which new innovations in shape and color sprang.  In 1976, Gramann was awarded the title of engineer in the field of sintering technology (the process by which ceramics are densified for use in high‐performance applications under extreme conditions) by the engineering school for glass technology in Weißwasser.  Over the course of his life, Siegfried Gramann would receive numerous awards for his artistic, ceramic, and entrepreneurial achievements.

With the 1990 reunification of Germany, the business was returned to family hands.  The economic upheavals of the decade and the dawn of globalization took their tolls.  Another blow came with Siegfried Gramann's death in 1991, at which point his daughter, Christina Gramann, took over.  Even under the difficult conditions, the production of high-quality, tasteful ceramics continued.  A new operating strategy would focus increasingly on the production of individualized art product.  When Christina Gramann died in 2008, the management of the family business fell to her son.  The company still exists today in the same location in Römhild.

Great idea, but the quality control..
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
*TLDR, Too Long Didn't Read* Do Not waste your money. Failed right out of box. Leaked at above freezing temps With upstream pressure regulator. Did not test the heating feature due to the hose leaking from under the insulation sleeve somewhere. Very disappointed. Build your own or insulate well. If you do choose to take a gamble with this item then Thoroughly test it as soon as it arrives and take pics/ video. Would share the video but it won't upload correctly, (not too tech savvy), but I know plumbing, mechanical, etc. The long review: Other reviews have mentioned the hose leaking or failing Even with pressure regulators (which we use and replace regularly) - this is factual. Failed on first hookup Before it reached the freezing temps. Please Do Not Buy this sub par constructed item. It's a shame really since we have bought a lot of Camco branded items over the years. Our unit seemed ok out of the box (bought on sale weeks before the cold season and didn't need it til about 6 days after the return window closed). I should have tested as soon as it arrived but Optimistically Trusted with the 'name brand' mindset. Amazon was courteous, but did not do anything for us except refer us to Camco to try to get them to replace the defective hose. Take our hard learned lesson and many others and Do Not buy these products. Either research youtube for making one from scratch yourself or over insulate your water lines/ hoses and set everything to drip during sub freezing temps (mostly applying to full time rvers or camping in colder climates). We bought the 1in diameter 1/2 in thick 6ft foam pipe insulation (about R2 insul value), foil backed fiberglass pipe insulation (R6 insul value), and then waterproofed with an outer sheath of reflectix and zip ties from lowe's and have had no issues down to 18 degrees with lower wind chills (installed on the fresh water hose, pressure regulator, and water in line filter from spigot post to camper and also wrapped the spigot for good measure). Our rig is 4 season/ belly insulation and sheet metal bottom no skirt. **Invest in the two way hose splitter off the spigot, add quick disconnects, then a "Freeze Miser" or similar product** It will automatically open and drip before it reaches freezing temps to prevent the water line from freezing. Easy to unbox, easy to install (like a regular hose), Only After testing for leaking or defects plug into appropriate safe and rated outlet. Not super heavy (25ft). Keeps a semi coiled memory after unboxing but seems to relax and become somewhat flexible. Nice color. Looks quality at first glance (even though several reviewers like us have had defective units).

Highly recommended
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
I’ve been using this hose for several years now. Plug it in and it heats the hose whenever the temperature drops to 40 or less. My hose has made it through several freezes and works 24/7 with no problems. I will buy another when the times comes.

BOUGHT 2 AND BOTH TERRIBLE
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot, Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot
I bought two of these products 6 months apart from each other (march 2024 and October 2024) both brand new out of the box leaked from this hose connection fitting and is not fixable by replacing the standard hose gasket. Thought maybe it was just the first one was just a dud. It was not, the 2nd one was exactly the same and leaked out of BOTH connection fittings aswell. Yes i tried new gaskets, thread tape / dope, trying to tighten it a bit more, pressure reducer down to abt 35 psi. None of which worked. This product has potential of being good but they used such a low quality connection that it ruins the whole thing. Havent gotten to the point where Ive used it below freezing for more than 1 night so I cant comment on the freeze proofness of it. Tested it with an electrical meter and it uses 690W when plugged in and below the temp rating. I ended up having to repair the hose myself because I couldnt order a chinese brand one instead without running out of time before freezing temps (photographed repair of what is necessary for this to funtion propertly out of the box) but for the price point this hose is at I expect it to last at least 2 years without issues at least, I especially DO NOT expect it to leak being brand new out of the box. If you are going to do the repair you have to carefully cut the insulated sleeve back a few inches without cutting the hose or heated wire and then cut the original hose connector off. At that point you can use pretty much any hose repair threaded connector with a hefty hose clamp nice and tight (dont strip the hose clamp threads though). After spending another 15 min on the repair and $10 in parts you will then have a functional hose for at least 1 week. We'll see how long it lasts now.

Hasn't froze yet
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 25-Foot
Ive been using this for 2 winters now. Its not lost its color, its not kinked, its still rigid and sturdy. It rolls up compact and fits into storage easy when warm. It can be difficult when cold. Easy to use, you just need typical wall power and a water source. Its been buried in nearly a foot of snow and single digit cold and hasn't froze yet.

A 5 year sentence
Style: -20-Degree, Size: 50-Foot
I’ve had this hose for 5yrs and it just sprang a leak and now I need to replace it lol. I’d say that’s pretty damn good for a hose that gets constant daily use. When the weather gets into the sub zeros it does freeze up, even with added heat tape and foam insulation around it all buried about half a foot underground. All in all, even with the freezing I’d say it was a great hose, very durable, not too stiff but a durable firmness, it connected very easily and with the thread tape on it never leaked.
