Historical background:

The Alpha class, also known as the A-class, with the naval code name "Lyra" and design number 705, was designed by the "Malachite" Design Bureau and is the third-generation attack nuclear submarine of the former Soviet Navy.
On June 20, 1968, the first ship of this class began construction, and by September 1981, two batches of seven ships had been built.
The first batch consists of four ships, built at the Leningrad Naval Shipyard with hull numbers K-377, K-316, K-373, and K-463. The next batch of three ships are improved versions of this class, with design number 705K, built by the 402 shipyard in North Dvinsk.
The Alpha class adopts a droplet shaped design and a double hull structure, making it the smallest displacement attack type nuclear submarine built by the former Soviet Union. It is divided into six compartments: torpedo compartment, mechanical and electrical compartment, central command and control compartment, reactor compartment, main engine compartment, and stern compartment. The crew consists of 45 people (all officers) and can sustain itself for 60 days and nights.
The boat is equipped with 6 533mm torpedo launch tubes, which can carry and launch 20 Type 53 dual-purpose torpedoes or 24 sea mines.
