This pressing pad helps keep strip sets and squares straight while ironing. Wool is a flame resistant material and naturally absorbs heat and distributes it evenly. When ironing this results in a fabric that is being heated and pressed from both sides. The ½” thickness of the Wool Ironing Mat also allows it to function as a design wall for quilting, knitting, embroidery and crocheting projects. Ironing Instructions and Product Care: Wool (150 degrees), when using higher ironing temperatures, we recommend adding a protective sheet over the ironing mat to avoid scorching the wool. The use of steam on our Wool Ironing Mats is not recommended or necessary, however if you are using steam settings while ironing, moisture may wick through the mat onto your workspace. To avoid moisture damage to your surfaces, add an additional protective sheet under your mat when using steam settings. Such as a towel or cotton pillowcase. The use of steam will cause a wool-like odor due to the combination of moisture and heat. This is common and will not linger.
