This Epiphone Dave Grohl DG-335 is an affordable ripper that represents Dave's iconic legacy, drawing its inspiration from his decades-long career playing with the Foo Fighters. As a collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop, this guitar merges the classic features of Gibson's ES-335 and Trini Lopez, the end result being a guitar that delivers the quintessential Dave Grohl sound***. This instrument boasts a semi-hollow ES body, bound Trini Lopez-style diamond-shaped holes, a one-piece mahogany neck with an elliptical profile, laurel fretboard, and split diamond inlays.
The top of the DG-335's body is constructed with layered maple, and its semi-hollow ES body shape is cut with diamond sound holes, providing a rich, resonant tone that's expected from semi-hollowbody guitars. A one-piece mahogany neck is attached, and features am "Elliptical C" profile, topped with a fingerboard of Indian laurel, chosen for its smooth texture. Mother of Pearl, Split Diamond inlays sit between 22 frets, and the fingerboard offers a total scale length of 24.75 inches.
At the heart of this DG-335 are Gibson USA's beloved Burstbucker pickups, specifically chosen by Dave Grohl himself for their clarity and punch. The Burstbucker 2 in the neck position delivers warm, articulate tones, while the Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position offers searing lead tones with plenty of sustain to play "My Hero". It's also outfitted with CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and a Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch, meaning that transitions from laid-back cleans to in-your-face distorted will go smoothly.
The Pelham Blue finish of the Epiphone Dave Grohl DG-335, also a staple of Dave's very own 335, offers a timeless aesthetic that's complemented by nickel-plated hardware and a Trini Lopez-style headstock with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners. Completing the package, a Dave Grohl Epiphone hard case protects this beauty on its journeys.
