Grand Canyon Day 0 - Lee's Ferry. This watercolor was painted on my first morning on the Colorado. This was the day after rigging our boats and the morning before we officially launched on the river. This painting was looking downriver from the camp at Lee's Ferry. What I quickly learned on this trip was that I would not be able to paint every day. There was too much to do, too much to see, and too little time. I am grateful for the 5 I was able to crank out during brief stints of calm. This painting portrays the calm of the morning just after sunrise. The river rounds the corner here and I knew very little of what laid just around the river bend.
