Explore the critical and timely book, 'The End of the Second Reconstruction,' which navigates the urgent conversation surrounding democracy in the United States. As the nation grapples with the challenges posed by the Trump administration's actions against civil rights, this book sheds light on the parallels between today's political climate and the Reconstruction era post-Civil War. With its in-depth analysis, it examines how the fleeting advancements made during the Second Reconstruction are now at risk of being undone. The author, an acclaimed historian, masterfully compares the struggles of African Americans in the 1870s to contemporary civil rights battles, making it a valuable resource for students, scholars, and engaged citizens alike. Description:
Democracy in the United States is under threat. The Trump administration™s attack on the legacy of the civil rights movement is undermining America™s claims to be a multi-racial democracy. This moment of peril has worrying parallels with a previous era of American history. The gains of the Reconstruction era after the civil war, which saw African Americans given full democratic rights, were totally reversed within a generation. There is a serious risk that the advances of the civil rights era “ the ÂSecond Reconstruction™ “ will go the same way unless we learn from the past and appreciate that American democracy has never been a story of linear progress. Skilfully analysing the similarities “ and the differences “ between the 1870s and the 2010s, Johnson outlines a political strategy for avoiding a disastrous repetition of history in in the twilight of the Second Reconstruction. Anyone interested in seeing the Trump presidency in wider historical context, from students of race, politics and history in the US to the interested general reader, will find this book an essential and sobering guide to our past “ and, if we™re not careful, our future.

Awesome, portable room divider for larger rooms
Color: Black, Color: Black
I chose this room divider to use in my son's room that also serves as my home office! It is 72" x 72" in size, so it truly blocks out the other side of the room for optimal privacy. Once it's assembled, it's mildly sturdy - as long as you can bet both ends with the "feet" in line with the ground. I wish that the framework poles had more of an interlocking system so that the divider was easier to erect. I assembled this on carpet, so I had some issues getting the divider to stop moving. It takes a lot of work to set up, as it is massive, so definitely have someone help you. I would suggest adding weights of some sort to the feet of this divider to keep it from shifting. I ended up leaning mine against a bookcase shelf so it wouldn't lean. All and all, this is a great product if you are looking to make a room multipurpose.

As described
Color: Black
Light weight, easy to put together and you can disconnect the ends and just roll the whole thing nice and tight for quick out of the way storage. Pretty sturdy, doesn't fall over if you bump into it, you could use it outside but if there's a lot of light you can see through a tiny bit if you're really close but I only tested this indoors so not sure about patio types
