Mesquite Block M-927 2.2"x 2.2"x 10.2"Mesquite M 9272 1 4"x 2 1 4"x 10 1 4"1 3 4 lbs. This is a very nice end grain block of nicely figured and very lightly burled Texas Honey Mesquite. It is the strong reddish brown heartwood with a nicely undulating grain pattern and includes at least two small and somewhat indistinct clusters of burl buds (most visible on the top photo). Those two patches of dark brown appear to just be surface stains that developed as I was milling the blank.

This is a very nice end-grain block of nicely figured and very-lightly burled Texas Honey Mesquite. It is the strong reddish-brown heartwood with a nicely undulating grain pattern and includes at least two small and somewhat indistinct clusters of burl-buds (most visible on the top photo). Those two patches of dark brown appear to just be surface stains that developed as I was milling the blank. Certainly, the smaller one on one end of the block (near end, top photo) is shallow and does not extend below the surface. They should turn-off completely as the block is turned to round.
No cracks or checks are visible in this block, but there is a small, and likely shallow, section of a small imbedded twig is present on the back side (bottom photo, far end). At least a portion of it will turn off as the block is "worked", but I would reinforce it with a bit of thin CA glue before turning. I see no other flaws.

No Appeal

6 Golden Retriever household and purchased these hoping they would like them. Unfortunately they do not. They do not seem to have much scent or appeal and went to the bottom of the basket.

Dog uninterested

My dog is a huge chewer and is constantly chewing on all sorts of different bones I've gotten her over time. This is the only one I've ever gotten that she refuses to touch, even when repeatedly offered it while I attempt to hype it up.
She has a reachable toy bin where I store half her toys, and she pulls things out as wanted, and I swap out the toys in there when she seems to get bored. I left this bone in there for 4 months just to see if she would ever come around to it, but nope. Nothing.

My Dog Hasn't Destroyed Yet But Trying
