The dual overdrive is one of pedals' most celebrated design archetypes. Perfect for firing your whole setup under one hood, there's plenty of reasons why the concept has remained so compelling. Browne Amplification, one of the effect world's premier purveyors of dual overdrives, drops in with their Ethane Overdrive.
On one side, Browne's Ethane Dual Overdrive drops in their Carbon V2 overdrive. Reminiscent of the all-important transparent overdrives championed by players like John Mayer on his album Continuum with touch responsiveness, grit, and clarity as main attractions. Browne went ahead to spin the circuit in their own way with a three-way switch that shapes the high-end signal for that added element of customization.
On its other side, the Ethane loads in a Browne Amplification Gritador overdrive. Their Gritador, surely familiar to anyone chasing classic "green" or "screamer"-style overdrives, shapes up with a solid low-end foundation and asymmetrical clipping section for a lively overdriven kick just like your favorite SRV-style players used to make. When combined, these two overdrives stack exceptionally well with the Carbon immediately complementing the Gritador's higher gain and crispy bite with high headroom and clarity as priorities. The Ethane comes together with a compact, space-saving design with top-mounted jacks and operates with standard nine volt center negative power supplies working at least one hundred milliamps.
