The SBD Dauntless dive-bomber was a key cog in the US Navy's aerial arsenal throughout the Pacific War. Although a product of aviation design in the mid to late 1930s, the type soldiered on even as more advanced aircraft were appearing from American factories as the war progressed. Despite its classification as a dive-bomber and rather dated appearance, the SBD Dauntless could more than handle its own against the feared A6M Zero-sen - a regular opponent, especially during the first 18 months of the campaign in the Pacific. The SBD was credited with 138 victories in aerial combat (principally in 1942), 107 of which were fighters and the rest bombers. Seven SBD units claimed five or more aerial victories, with future ace Lt(jg) John Leppla of VS-2 being credited with four victories while flying from the carrier USS Lexington during the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942. The Zero-sen came to symbolise Japan's military prowess during the early stages of the war in the Pacific, and it quickly became the world's premier carrier-based fighter - a title it would hold well into 1943. The psychological impact of the Zero-sen was so great that all Allied fighters were judged by the standards set by it. The aviators flying the A6M in 1941-42 were amongst the most experienced fighter pilots in the world, and they claimed a significant number of the SBDs destroyed while trying to defend their carriers from attack during the Battles of Coral Sea, Midway and Santa Cruz in 1942. While one was a dive-bomber and the other a nimble fighter, both met in combat many times, with the Dauntless proving an elusive and deadly target thanks to the tenacity and skill of the pilots and gunners manning the Douglas aircraft. While the Zero-sen was credited with shooting down many SBDs, the rugged dive-bomber gave as good as it got and emerged, not surprisingly, victorious on many occasions.

This book examines these aircraft in detail, exploring their history and development and contains accurate descriptions of the combats between the SBD Dauntless and Zero-sen throughout the first four carrier battles of 1942 and the Solomons Campaign.

My dogs love fetching this toy, then fighting over who’s going to bring it back to me
Both of my miniature dachshunds took to this tug of war toy immediately after opening it. I liked the fact it didn’t smell terrible like most of the scented dog toys I’ve purchased in the past. Instead this one actually smells good, it’s sweet and fruity smelling. It’s extremely durable and very heavy duty. The only problem is that it’s pretty thick and heavy, especially for my small dogs. They still like playing fetch with it, then fighting over which one gets to bring it back to me. It really would have been the perfect fetching toy for them, if only it had been a little bit smaller and lighter. If you have larger sized dogs who enjoy playing fetch and tug a war, I’d recommend giving it a try.

Good Quality Toy, but Not a Hit with My Dogs
I am a bit unsure about this toy. Unfortunately, my dogs do not seem to enjoy it very much. I thought the blueberry apple scent would make it more appealing, but they tend to lose interest almost as quickly as they start playing with it. I was hoping this would be something we could use for games like tug of war, but it just has not held their attention. That said, I may just have picky dogs, so this could be a different experience for others. The reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the quality is actually quite nice. It feels well made and has a good overall design. However, I would be a little cautious giving it to aggressive chewers, as it seems a bit on the softer side. For dogs that are more gentle with their toys, it would likely be a better fit. The size is also great, and it has a lot of potential. It just has not gotten much use in our house, likely due to my dogs not being fans of the flavor. Overall, if you have picky pups like mine, this may not be the best choice. But for less selective or gentler dogs, it could still be a solid option

Stretchy, but Smaller & Softer Than Expected; Berry Fragrance Dominates; May be Best 4 Puppies
I was directed to read guidelines that were on the internet, prior to use. I was not expecting that and that was a big turn-off. Basically, it's all about liability, this product has the possibility of being torn apart and I am basically warned that if a piece is chewed off, that's bigger than a grain of rice, to toss, this. I was repeatedly reminded, again and again, and again that pet safety was my responsibility. Yeah, I know that. All these suggestions and warnings should have been made clearer in the listing. Is this built to flex? Yes. Does it bend? Yes. Does it stretch? Yes. Is this rugged? That's open to debate, based on the users, for a puppy, to some degree, but their teeth are very sharp. Is this soft on teeth? I don't disagree. Does this have a durable design? Depends on the user. Floats in water? I do not doubt it. Does this have an enticing scent? For a human, yes, for a pet? Depends if your pet loves berries. This is no pigs ear/bone, so, chewing is not a natural draw that I saw, which I think may be better, because this is soft and easier to tear to pieces than expected. To motivate the first time, I found it best to initiate the tug of war, but this is smaller than I envisioned too, causing me to have to bend considerably to participate. A tennis ball in a tube sock is longer. A two-dog tug of war works best with this. Nevertheless, it's a better toy than teaching pooch to have a battle using clothing, avoiding future attractions to my socks. There is some flexibility to this. Durability is an issue. I think this would have been more interesting if it had been made out of rawhide. It does have a comfortable grip, for a human, but the toy pays a price for that with what I would consider fragility. The berry fragrance dominates, it's nice for a human, but sorry, it ain't no bacon aroma. It's like a thick heavy rubber hose. Value? In hindsight, I just do not see the value I was expecting. I mean really, a grain of rice warning not to use. Durability at issue in my eyes. Country of origin? Vietnam. Is this perfect? Not in my opinion. Rating? A strong three (3) stars at best in my eyes. This is not for a tough chewer. I have to constantly monitor its condition. It does succeed as a tug toy, but it has more limitations that I was expecting. I hope my thoughts added a bit of information.

Bully proof?!
Size: 5 in
We have the cutest little pit/lab mix who destroys stuffed toys in about two seconds flat. It’s always a HUNT to find toys he won’t instantly shred. This brand has some of the best! They were in FiveBelow for a while and it was the only brand that stood up to him initially. He finally got through the first only after MONTHS so we bought a few back ups and they’re still going strong months later! They’re also not super heavy so these end up being the toys we play fetch with most often! 100% will be buying more in this line in the future!
