We had the pleasure of setting this gorgeous brilliant cut blue zircon in hand-bezeled 14k yellow gold and topping it with a 21st century answer to the historical dog clip; delivering all the functionality of the original antique version, but with the androgynous contemporary lines your heart desires. This stone has gorgeous refraction, light and play in spades, and appears larger than its 2.5 carats as it carries most of its weight in a generous 9 x 7mm face. The stone is the color of a dear friend's blue eyes, of the sky in England on a day with fewer clouds than expected; the kind of sky under which you can't help but make dramatically sincere proclamations about beauty.   

If you aren't familiar with Zircon, we are honored to get to introduce you to this incredible gem; with a long and extraordinary history, and a relatively recent PR problem arising from its name sounding very similar to a certain famous diamond simulant. Naturally forming in a wide range of colors and with a high refraction index, zircon is in fact the oldest mineral found on earth, with deposits found in Australia that are 4.4 billion years old. Formed from magma, zircons are incredibly durable chemically, and along with their physical resilience, they have long been associated with protection, strength and balance.
