In the early days we always practiced on cotton. You will enjoy the natural feel under you when practicing and they absorb sweat. The fact that these new mats are organic is even better! They work great on top of any sticky mat and will prolong the life of the sticky mat as well. The cotton rugs are sanitary and easy to clean.

Mat Use and Care Instructions: For better traction on top of the rug it is helpful to spray or sprinkle a small amount of water on the mat where your hands and feet go in downward dog at the beginning of practice. This will help to give a better feeling of grip. 

If placing the rug on a slick surface such as a polished wood floor you will need to put some kind of sticky mat under your cotton rug to prevent it from slipping around on the floor.
Any kind of sticky mat will work!

To retain the nice color of your rug it is best to wash it in Cold water using a natural gentle detergent.

You may put in dryer on a gentle cycle or just hang to dry.
