Explore the profound insights of celebrated author Navid Kermani in this compelling book that delves into the complex global crises that extend beyond Lampedusa. The author provides a riveting account of conflict zones stretching from Kashmir and Pakistan to the tumultuous regions of the Arab world, illuminating their potential impact on international stability. Amidst the turbulent backdrop of NATO's war in Afghanistan and the civil strife in Syria, Kermani unveils the stark realities faced by civilians, offering a unique perspective on globalization's darker side in India.

Kermani, the only Western journalist present during the suppression of mass protests in Tehran, paints a vivid picture of the humanitarian crises that go unnoticed by mainstream media. His encounters with Sufis in Pakistan and Grand Ayatollah Sistani in Najaf present a rare glimpse into the lives of those grappling with the chaos brought on by the Islamic State in Iraq. Through his skillful narrative, this book not only addresses pressing geopolitical concerns but also humanizes the struggles faced by individuals caught in the crossfire of history.

Understand the struggles and stories that shape our world today. This book is essential reading for anyone seeking to comprehend the intricate connection between individual experiences and global conflicts rooted in regional tensions and the fight for peace.

Description:

This book ventures into the world beyond Lampedusa: the crisis belt that stretches from Kashmir across Pakistan and Afghanistan to the Arab world and beyond, to the borders and coasts of Europe. Celebrated author Navid Kermani reports from a region which is our immediate neighbour, despite all too often being depicted as remote and distant from our daily concerns. Kermani has visited the places where no CNN transmitter truck is parked and yet smouldering fires threaten world peace. In his widely praised, wonderfully agile and careful prose, he reports on NATO's war in Afghanistan and the underside of globalization in India, on the civil war in Syria and the struggle of Shiites and Kurds against the 'Islamic State' in Iraq. He was the only Western reporter present at the suppression of the mass protests in Tehran, travelled with Sufis through Pakistan, talked with Grand Ayatollah Sistani in Najaf, and observed the disastrous Mediterranean refugee route in LampedusaKermani's gripping reports allow us to understand a world in turmoil, to share the suspense and the suffering of the people in it. As if by magic, he brings individual lives and situations to life so vividly that complex and seemingly distant problems of world politics suddenly appear crystal clear. Our world too lies beyond Lampedusa.

Lovely!
I have been using this Kojic Acid and Papaya body lotion, and it is just a lovely lotion with a great scent. That papaya gives it such a sweet, tropical aroma that makes me feel like I’m on a bit of a vacation every time I put it on after my morning shower. It’s been very hydrating for my skin, and I’ve noticed it has a nice exfoliating quality that helps smooth out those rough patches, especially on my elbows and knees. It’s a real comfort to know that it’s vegan and paraben-free, so I don't have to worry about any harsh chemicals while I’m trying to take care of sun-damaged areas. The 8.45-ounce bottle is a perfect size for the vanity, and the lotion itself sinks right in without leaving me feeling greasy, which is a real plus when I’m trying to get dressed in a hurry.

More like baby powder scent rather than honey
While this works well and is very moisturizing, the smell is awful. It does not taste or smell like honey at all. It smells like a really strong baby powder, and not a pleasant one. I couldn't even use it just on my hands because the smell was so strong. Instead, I've been using it on my rough feet before putting socks on, so at least it's good for that and I don't continue to smell it. I'm willing to try one of the other scents though, as they have much better reviews.

Great but large to carry around
This is a great product, and having beef cattle, I like to support other farmers. The ONLY thing I would suggest is to make it in smaller tubes so that it is easier to carry around. It is hard to carry in a jean pocket because of how large it is, so it makes it look odd and is awkward. However, that being said, I do use this for dry spots for winter skin, etc. Let me know when you make these in smaller tubes - I look forward to buying more and supporting your 'USA made' business!
