Compatibility & Fitment

This carburetor is a universal replacement for many 43cc and 52cc 2-stroke engines used in lawn and garden equipment. Key compatible models include:

  • Earthquake Tillers: MC43, E43, MC43CE, MC43E, MD43, and 2-cycle cultivators.
  • Powermate Edgers & Augers: PEA438, PCV43, and 43cc walk-behind edgers.
  • Ardisam / Eskimo: Mako M43, 51.7cc Shark augers, and various power heads.
  • Poulan / Poulan Pro: PR2322 (Hedge Trimmer), PR48BT (Backpack Blower).
  • Southland / Tazz: Various 43cc 2-cycle tillers and edgers.

When to Replace

  • Engine Surging or "Hunting": The RPM fluctuates wildly at a steady throttle, often caused by a lean fuel mixture due to a restricted internal jet.
  • Starts Only on Fluid: The engine will only fire if starting fluid is sprayed into the intake, confirming the carburetor is not pulling fuel from the tank.
  • Fuel Leaks: Gasoline drips from the air filter housing or the primer bulb area while the engine is off or running.
  • Engine Bogs Under Load: The engine idles fine but dies as soon as the tiller tines hit the dirt or the edger blade engages.
  • Brittle Primer Bulb: The clear primer bulb has yellowed, cracked, or stays "sunk in" after being pressed, preventing fuel priming.

Installation Tips

  • Drain the Old Fuel: Before installing the new carburetor, drain the gas tank and replace the fuel lines. Installing a new carb with "varnished" old gas will clog it immediately.
  • Check the Gasket Orientation: Ensure the tiny pulse hole on the mounting gasket aligns perfectly with the hole on the engine block. If misaligned, the carburetor's internal fuel pump won't work.
  • Prime the System: Once installed, press the primer bulb 5–10 times until you see fuel circulating through the clear return line back into the tank.
  • Throttle Linkage: Note the position of the throttle cable "Z-bend" before removal. If the cable is slightly bent during installation, the engine may not reach full speed or may have a dangerously high idle.
  • Spark Plug Inspection: Since 2-stroke engines are prone to carbon buildup, it is highly recommended to replace the spark plug at the same time as the carburetor.

slightly smaller than sky high
Size: 30 FT, Style: 0 (1/0) AWG RED
wire is okay but it is definitely on the thinner side, was slightly smaller than my sky high 1/0 wire but for the price difference this is definitely worth it

Great wire, great price
Size: 100-Foot, Style: 14-Gauge
There is something about this wire that makes me buy it again and again, and makes me feel like it’s a great value! it’s pure copper strands and it feels, looks solid and as good as anything I ever bought for the sound transmission The cover is thick, but the wire is still flexible. Looks professional and the white looks better than the old school copper look. Getting the protective sleeve off is a bit of challenge but for me it’s worth it. Have a utility knife, wire strippers and if you have weaker hands, a pair of pliers or something to grip it with to remove from covering wires. It’s worth the effort to me as the results feel solid I use this with my higher end vintage M&K, Sansui, Pioneer, Timeframe, and other amps, speakers and to my ears, it delivers simple, clean sound at a great price. Don’t buy the hype, buy good wire and call it a day. This 14 gauge even works well with clip posts like on my Sansui 9090DB. 👌 Only thing I would do different, buy the 200ft if you are hooking up Atmos or have multiple equipment. This is my third 100ft in as many months, Lol
