Hand assembled in Nashville, TN and imagined by Matthew Hoopes from Relient K, 1981 Inventions prides themselves in reinventing, retooling, and reinspiring musicians to get creative with simplistic effects. Their DRV distortion pedal was, and still is, a big hit, becoming one of the go to names in the boutique pedal world for its "rodent" reminiscent style and diverse array of aesthetic variations. Now, 1981 has revisited this beloved circuit with the DRV2 No3, a modified distortion effect pedal that isn't too far off from V1, enhancing the signature sound with new adjustments that give way to more expressive dirt-crafting.

Just like the previous iteration, the DRV2 is a three knob wonder that goes from barely dusty to disgusting dirty with the turn of the DRV2 knob. The notable upgrade for this version, and this could come as a shock when talking distortion effects, is the lower noise floor. This quieter tweak allows for a wider sounding distortion, giving the option to dial in the crunch (or lack thereof) to clean, barely-clipping tones to add slight character to a stock sound. Alternatively, the wilder settings won't idly hum and buzz when playing isolated leads, reserving the distorted treatment for notes and chords alone. When used in addition to the VOL knob, players can accurately gain stage the effect to their liking.

The final top side control that needs to be spoken on is the CUT knob, a high-frequency roll off that now affects a wider tonal spectrum with bigger lows and tighter highs. Set the filter wide open for gnarly, scratchy, almost fuzzy tones, or ease off the high end to achieve a bluesy, subdued character. Dial this parameter into the DRV2 and VOL functions and experiment with different sonic possibilities like fully filtered hair raising or wide open chiming, yet minorly crunchy cleans.

Pushing the distorted envelope further, the DRV2 is now operable with both 9-volt and 18-volt power supplies. This modifications makes the effect respond differently at each voltage, essentially providing two different, but mostly alike modes dependent on the power decided. Inside the box, 1981 has included the option for switchable true-bypass for players who want the option. The improved distortion is packaged in a newly designed aluminum enclosure printed with UV gloss graphics.

Find the DRV to distort like no other with the 1981 Inventions DRV2 No3 Distortion effect pedal.

Durable and Rugged
Color: Black
I've had it for a few weeks now. It was a replacement I bought after buying several vinyl type covers. This one is a good gauge of plastic and rubber. The rubber seems pretty strong and it protects the iPad well on the corners and back. The back is mostly covered except for the Apple logo in the center. In addition to protecting the corners and also protects the camera lens as the rubber after insulation is a little bit higher than the lens so when you put this down, it's not going to scratch the lens. It has a pen slot, which I like and plenty of room to grip the device if I'm carrying it from place a place or when I'm using it, I can grip the edge and not touch the screen. One of the things I would've liked included is a screen protector, but nothing covers the screen. I also miss the folio type cover because the screen will gather dust now. But, Apple screens are fairly durable so I'm not too worried about breaking it. It was easy to install. It came in as it came in a couple of pieces that you just pressed together. All the controls are obvious as they are under the rubber, but they look like keys. One more thing I might bring up is the charging port. It's easy to get to even though it's a little deep. On my iPad the touch sensor is on the on off button and it is a little harder to do than if I didn't have any case on it, but that is to be expected. It also has an easel that unfolds from the back if you want to sit it up, but I don't use it for watching anything since I have a real TV set. So far I like it and I'm glad I bought this as I don't think it's going to wear out as quickly from me handling it as the others did. The value was good as long as it lasts.

Screen protector
Item Package Quantity: 2
I had a hard time applying it to my screen because of the size. I can say it may take 2 people to apply it. Good quality.

Be certain that device screen is COMPLETELY dust/lint free.
Item Package Quantity: 2, Item Package Quantity: 2
This comes in a two-pack, and both were certainly needed. After installing the screen protector the first time, I saw that there were several teeny/tiny specks of dust or lint that were visible and caused circles to form around the specks of dust/lint where the screen protector didn’t firmly attach to the iPad screen. It was not fixable. I learned from that experience. So, when I installed the second screen protector, I made sure there was no dust/lint on the iPad screen, and made sure that the sticky backing of the screen protector was also COMPLETELY free of dust/lint. Be sure to use the included “Perfect Screen Guard” to pick up the lint/dust before you finally place the screen protector on the device screen!! I give this a “5” because it did great after being certain that there was no dust/lint.

Good screen protector but
Item Package Quantity: 2, Item Package Quantity: 2
I had to buy two of these screen protectors you have to really make sure there’s no specs of anything on the screen before applying or it will not stick anymore but maybe that’s my fault haha, the second time around it was put on correctly and I haven’t had any problems so far
