40” H x 30” W

Hot Stuff Big Deal is a bold, highly textured abstract by local Virginia artist Theodore "Ted" Turner, dominated by a saturated cobalt blue field layered with expressive passages of white, yellow, red, violet, and black. Thick impasto brushwork creates a sculptural surface, while fragmented letters, symbols, and gestural marks emerge throughout the composition. Phrases such as "HOT," "BIG," and "DEAL" appear amid the energetic paint application, reflecting Turner's playful exploration of language, color, and abstraction in his later work.

Executed on canvas with a heavy application of paint, the work likely employs oil or heavy-body acrylic, though the exact medium has not been confirmed. Acquired from the artist's estate collection.

About the Artist:
Theodore "Ted" Turner (1922–2002) was an American painter, printmaker, sculptor, and educator whose career spanned more than five decades. After studying at Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), he earned his MFA from New York University before joining the faculties of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia, where he later served as head of the art department. Following his retirement, Turner maintained studios in Charlottesville's Belmont neighborhood and remained an influential figure in the region's arts community.

Turner's diverse body of work ranges from landscapes and seascapes to portraits, urban scenes, and expressive abstractions. Working across oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media, he became known for his fearless use of color, vigorous brushwork, and richly textured surfaces. His later paintings frequently incorporate words, letters, and symbolic forms, creating compositions that blur the line between language and image while revealing the spontaneity and energy that characterize his mature style.

Kid friendly
Size: 6 Big Kid, Color: Blue Calcite
Easy to slip on, and simple to clean, which is really convenient. My child says they’re comfortable for playing outside and wearing around the house. The only downside is they can get a little slippery on wet surfaces, and the fit seems slightly wide. Overall, they’re durable and practical, but maybe not the best option for every activity. I buy new crocs for my kids every year, we love it! Add little charms to create your child’s own croc style.

Expensive and Ugly
Size: 3 Little Kid, Color: Blue Bolt
My grandson loves and wears crocs all the time so he really appreciated a new pair of them. I personally think they’re ugly and would never wear. Rubber shoes?! Ridiculous. There’s plenty of other stylish and nice looking shoes that are just as comfortable. The cost of crocs is crazeeee! That’s why I will only give 4 stars. However, it was all about pleasing my grandkid.

Good looking shirts. Will not disappoint.
Size: Large, Color: Carbon Heather
These shirts are a great quality. They wash great with no shrinkage. They are very comfortable based on my husband’s feedback. They look as advertised. The variation in colors were perfect. The size fits perfectly. My husband is an XL for the long sleeve but a L for the short sleeved Carhartt T-shirts. The neckline is comfortable. Would recommend to others and will be purchasing more.

good durable shirts
Size: 4X-Large, Color: Black
The Carhartt K87 pocket t-shirt is a classic for a reason. The heavyweight cotton material feels durable and high quality, making it great for both work and everyday wear. It holds up well over time and doesn’t feel flimsy like cheaper t-shirts. The loose fit is one of the standout features—it gives you plenty of room to move and stays comfortable even during long days. The chest pocket is a nice touch for small items, and the overall construction feels solid with minimal twisting after washing. Comfort-wise, it starts a bit stiff but softens up after a few washes, which is pretty typical for thicker cotton shirts. It’s also available in a wide range of colors, so it’s easy to grab a few and rotate them. The main downside is the fit can run large and slightly boxy, so you might want to size down depending on how you like your shirts to fit. Some people may also find the heavyweight fabric a bit warm in hot weather. Overall, it’s a reliable, long-lasting t-shirt that delivers great value for the price and is perfect if you want something durable and simple.
