FAQ A Level Environmental Science:
Is there any coursework?
No, the course is assessed by exams only. However, you are expected to gain first-hand experience of methodologies and sampling techniques. The Field Studies Council offer courses for small groups or individuals that meet the requirements of the specification.
What additional equipment do I need to bring to the exams?
In addition to black pens a HB pencil may be used for graphs and diagrams and a ruler and eraser are also required. Some students find using a highlighter useful on Environmental Science papers but please note that you must not highlight any part of your answer as this will prevent it from being marked. A basic scientific calculator which meets JCQ regulations is the best option for A Level Environmental Science, if the calculator has any memory capacity this must be cleared before the exam and the calculator should have no formulae or other information on it.
